A strange, friendly dog(summerian)

[JULIET]

Juliet walked carefully though this land where the virus had started. She was quiet as she slipped through the broken branches and barren land. She was looking around for clues, trying to figure out if any of the other pack dogs had been here to send viruses into they're pack.She was quietly working as she sniffed around, she heard a different sound, she understood it, but it didn't sound right, she listened again, and cautiously ran to the location.She stopped behind a bush and peered out from behind it, looking for any creature that might know had to speak a language like hers, well, fluently, and fast.She wasn't close enough, that animal that knew how had left the spot she was now. She growled to herself and kept going.She sniffed around the animal, or what ever it was, was defiantly here.She turned in the direction the creature had gone and slipped past some dead tree logs.She had totally for got about her mission, but she had to remember it wasn't real, it was just to test out how well she could track things, and obviously she was good at it.

[SUMMERRAIN]

A skinny dog looks around slowly. The dog is skinny, but not underweight. The dog looks proportional, as if being skinny is the standard of that breed. The fawn colored coat looks clean, but her eyes glimmer with a worried look. She looks like a typical fawn colored pelt Basenji. It would be impossible to tell that she was an infected Basenji instead of a creature who had simply wandered accidentally into the land of the Quarentined.

Shizuko lifts her muzzle into the air, sniffing, searching for a scent. She catches the scent of her companion Akane and opens her maw. She releases a sound that is unique to her breed, a yodle that sounds like a "baroo," rather than a simple howl or bark. It was the only real sound she could make, having been born with speach impairments. She runs toward the scent, searching for her red panda friend.

Shizuko slows, then stops. She puts her muzzle to the dirt, attempting to catch the scent again. When she does, she makes the baroo noise again before running after Akane. She stops by a bush with a small space between the lowest branches and the ground. She lowers her head and sticks her muzzle into the gap. A laugh rings out, and she pulls her muzzle out with a red panda clinging to it. The creature drops, landing on it's paws. Shizuko licks the creature once. She had tracked Akane down.

It was nothing but a game they played when the rest of the pack was away somewhere. It was hard to take Akane on hunts because Akane was a prey animal herself. Akane acted as Shizuko's voice, and they were almost always together. Akane dashes back under the bush when a stick snaps. Shizuko turns and reflexively takes a defensive stance.

[JULIET]

Juliet followed the scent and then saw what looked like a red panda and a dog. She watched them play a little, then the little th skinny dog in a defensive stance, Juliet rolled her eyes while thinking, if this thing knows i'm here, why doesn't it run I could snap it's neck in a second.She stepped out from her hiding spot into the open. She stood as tall as she could, making herself look massively big. She then glared at the two, then her honey sort of voice she said,"what is a red panda doing with a dog," she loved how her voice sounded, it was like a mothers voice, which she soon would be.She knew she was near diseased dog, so she kept her distance of about four yards.Her eyes stayed on the red panda, knowing that it was probably a translator or something.The weird sound must have came from the dog, the virus must have done something to it.Her ears stayed pricked up so she could pick up any sound.Her hazel eyes were filled with curiosity and confusion, at all times at the little creature.

Shizuko growled quietly, her eyes brighter than normal for an infected dog. Then again, normal infected dogs had died and undied, giving them a dead look. Shizuko had gotten the infection from her mother, who had died because of the virus. Shizuko lifts a paw as Akane slinks out from under the bush, her red pelt shimmering in the sunlight.

"What's a normal dog doing in Quarentined territory?" Akane counters, eyes bright with agitation. "You smell of another pack. Luna Ridge maybe?" At the mention of the other pack, Shizuko made the signiture Basenji baroo yodle to alert the rest of the pack. She stands protectively over Akane's red form, knowing her slight body would give her speed and Akane could easily dart up a nearby tree if needed.

Akane looks up at Shizuko for a moment before turning her gaze back to the stranger. "Who are you anyway?" she asks, curious.

[JULIET]

With that smart mouth comment Juliet lost it.She jumped on top of the other dog and growled at the red panda,"ya i'm Luna Ridge,"she snarled between her clenched teeth.Because she was a Newfoundland she could easily keep this dog on the ground.Now Juliet's eyes were full of rage, the red panda had disrespected her, her mate had disappeared, and her pack was starving, she had no patience for a infected dog."I'm Juliet, and i'm here because my pack sent me on a mission,"she said glaring at the little red panda," she knew what they had done, they had summoned the pack."You know I could kill this dog and you,"her eyes gleamed at the thought, she hadn't killed anything in awhile.Her massive body was tense and her teeth gleamed.Her honey voice had turned into, a thunder storm sound."You also do know that even if your pack comes, I will be gone by then, and then what, your going to to send your pack after me?Good luck,"she said snorting.She could become a vicious dog within seconds if animals weren't careful like this stupid red panda.

[SUMMERRAIN]

Shizuko attempts to dodge the large dog, but Juliet's speed surprised her. She whimpers, struggling under the larger Newfoundland unsuccessfully. She gives up when she realizes it's useless.

"We're not used to canines from other packs on our lands," Akane explains quickly. "I'm Akane. The humans named me so because of my coat. My name means red in Japanese. My companion is Shizuko, which means quiet one. That's her only way of communicating with the pack. She was born with speach impairments, but her breed can't bark anyway." She was speaking quickly, attepting to get them both out of this mess. "Our pack is small. Only three or four, maybe five members now. The others keep away because they're afraid of the infection." Her voice changes. "Please... If you let us go, we won't let the alpha know you came onto our territory..."

[JULIET]

Juliet did feel the struggle under her but she barely paid attention as the red panda explained they're situation. She glared one last time then stepped off the helpless dog."So Akane and Shizuko?Hm-mm,"she said.They're both weird names,Juliet thought but pushed the thought away.She then said,"why are you two together, like how did you find each other?"This dog might be a friend,she thought happily.She didn't show it she just simply sat down then she realized something,"I should probably go instead, your leader will becoming,"as she said that her heart dropped.She stood up and turned to go.She pushed her way through the little bushes to head back to her territory, to her pack, where she had no friends.She sighed and let a cool breeze blow her ears back in the wind.After ac couple feet she sat down and thought about her life, where it had gone since her parents had died.She lye on her side and then lye her head on her paws, she closed her eyes, but then some one was around, she could sense it's presence.

Shizuko follows the dog called Juliet. She smiles and, despite the incident moments ago, nuzzles the other dog in a kind way. "He won't come," Akane says quietly. "Not for a while. He has to keep making sure the rest of the pack is alright." Shizuko slowly sits down next to Juliet, and Akane squeezes in between them. Akane's bushy tail twitches slightly in a light breeze.

"As for how we met," Akane starts. "I escaped from the zoo in the city as a pup, but wouldn't have survived if Shizuko's mother hadn't found me. Shizuko's brother and sister left when she turned one. Her mother passed due to complications of the infection. Shizuko's only here because her mother passed the infection on to her. I'm basically her voice. She can do that weird howl thing, but that's about it." Shizuko rolls her eyes, brighter than those of a normal infected canine's because she had not died and undied yet. She had walked this earth for only a few years, each one as a normal, pre-death dog.

"So... What about you?" Akane asks Juliet. "Big, furry dogs like you aren't exactly common around here. Then again, visitors of any kind are rare..." The red panda's eyes darken, but only for a moment. "We're a strange duo, but we work well together."

[JULIET]

Juliet smiled as they had followed her," oh i'm sorry about that for both of you, but you do work well together,"she replied sitting up,"My history is kind of sad, my parents were killed when I was one, then when I turned one my brother left me because he was tired of taking care of me, I could tell,"she said holding back a little sob,"but life is getting better i'm in a pack, fed and I have my self a mate,"her thoughts went back to the first time she had met Pilot, oh how she missed him, but he promised he would be back,"and i'll have me some pups soon,"she said smiling."So why did you want to escape the zoo so bad, was it horrible being trapped and treated like a fluffy animal."she asked looking down at the creature.Her voice was back to it's soft honey type of voice.Her pack wouldn't notice if she was gone or not because she's done it millions of times before and they know she's on a mission, her first.She sighed as she waited for a reply.

[SUMMERRAIN]

"I didn't mean to," Akane insists. A smile forms on Shizuko's face, and her eyes glimmer with silent laughter. "I was young and wanted to know what lay outside the world of the cage I was kept in with my mom. I got out when the humans came in to feed mamma. I explored a bit before trying to get back to mamma, but I had gotten lost. I somehow found my way to the exit and out into the world beyond the cages. I didn't know how to get my own food, so if it hadn't been for Shizuko's mamma, I would've starved." Shizuko nods once, as if saying something along the lines of I agree. "When they found out that I could easily understand Shizuko here, they kept me longer than they would've normally."

Shizuko lowers her head to Juliet's stomach. She smiles and licks it once. She looks back at Juliet, eyes glimmering in a way to say congrats. "Congrats, by the way," Akane adds. "I've always wanted my own pups..."

[JULIET]

Juliet felt sorry for the little red panda, because she also as waited for ever to have her own as well.,"well, i'll let you guys be the first to see them,"she smiled happily."Well, have you ever left this territory before?"she asked looking at them happily."It's beautiful, especially out in the free lands, with all the wild life and all.But because i'm in a pack and my mate is trying to run one it's kind of tricky seeing him, but I manage too get out sometimes,"she sighed."i'm not sure if I should leave the pack and join his, but we'll have to wait and see, because i'm a hunter, so i'm pretty important,especially at this time,"she was such in a tight situation, but she kept herself going by remembering that as soon as she got out how relived she would be.I wonder...,she was starting to think when she realized that the red panda hadn't replied yet, or the dog hadn't made a peep for awhile, she was wondering if she should leave."I should be going now," she said getting up.

[SUMMERRAIN]

Shizuko stands and shakes her head when Juliet stands to go. She makes a strange sequence of noises that sound like "Don't have to." Akane quickly moves out in front of the dog much larger than her own conpanion.

"You don't have to leave," Akane says to the Newfoundland. "We don't have many others here. And visitors are especially rare." Her eyes darken slightly as she looks to the ground. "There's nothing wrong with us... It's not like it's contagious or anything... I've been around Shizuko most of my life and nothing's happened to me..." Shizuko quickly curls around Akane, comforting the red panda with her touch. "I don't care if anything happens," Akane says quietly. "I'll stay with you until I die, Shizuko."

Akane realizes that Juliet is still in front of her. She smiles apologetically. "Sorry," she says quietly. "You can tell being isolated here isn't exactly the best thing for us... Not like we have much of a choice, though. The humans made this place for us..." She doesn't notice how she uses us, including herself in the group. "I mean, every other canine out there is afraid of us because of this infection... What's so bad about it anyway? What have we done to deserve it? Why us?" She tucks her head into Shizuko's fur.

[JULIET]

Juliet feel's bad for the two then says,"I don't think any thing is wrong with you guys, and I think the reason you guy's might be infected is because you are strong, you have the faith and patience to deal with this., and I know it's not contagious, that's the only reason I came here, well sort of, I wanted to have hopefully shed some comfort on you type of dogs, and let you know that at least one of the 'normal' dogs thinks you guys are cool,"she said happily."So am I the only one 'brave' enough to have come here and see what it's like?" she asks, plopping back down again.Juliet doesn't know a lot about the humans, and what happened to them, she only knows that they died out a while go, and she hasn't seen one so she doesn't really care. but she dose conclude"and it's really nice for the humans to have made this place just for you guys, they probably think similar to the way I think of you guys," she said,smiling.

[SUMMERRAIN]

Shizuko turns her head away at the mention of the pack lands. Akane shakes her head slowly. "The humans are--were--afraid of what they accidentally created," she explains.
