James feet lightly touched the ground as he stalked a young fawn. It was traveling with a herd, but had no mother and walked on the outskirts. It was perfect. James could almost completely relate his childhood to this fawns. He had grown up without a mother, tried to fit in, and just couldn't. His whole life, and afterlife, has been about waiting. Waiting to fit in, waiting for his chance to be noticed, waiting for the depression to end, waiting to stop being sick from the damn virus.... waiting..... waiting. In the end he just got tired, tired of his life meaning nothing. So he killed himself, hoping to escape to the place they call 'heaven.' Heaven never came, it was like God slapped him in the face. Where were the pearly gates? The wings? The haloes? All the other corny, holy crap that everyone talked about? He had gotten screwed out of a deal. And now he came back to this stupid, meaningless fucking planet called Earth, as an Immortal. What the hell had he ever done to deserve this!? What had he done that he needed to fix so badly? He growled lightly at the unfairness of it all. He snarled and lunged at the poor fawn, taking it out of this cruel world. "You'll like it better in the other life," He whispered to the dead fawn. Of corse, this meal wasn't for him, being that he didn't eat. It was for his new alpha, he was meeting him at the edge of the small nuclear facility. He was hoping to get into the new pack Corr was making, maybe even a high rank. If he got a high rank, it would give his life meaning, with meaning maybe then he would die and fianlly escape this world. He wasn't getting hopeful though. He knew that food always helped, everyone liked food... well, except for him. He ran the rest of the way, not breathing. He didn't need to breath, that was one thing that he enjoyed about immortality, being able to run and run without needing to stop for a breath. The fawn splattered blood on his muzzle, though he longed to taste the sweet taste of blood. But even with the fresh blood of the fawn in his mouth, he couldn't taste anything. He sighed and ran faster, soon he was at their meeting spot. He sat down, setting the fawn beside him to save it for the alpha, Corr. James put his head in his paws, and waited.

A red panda dashes out in front of James, a smile at her lips. She attempts to dash away, but a swift-footed Basenji appears seemingly out of nowhere and pins the red panda to the ground. The Basenji licks the red panda, then lets the small creature up. The red panda laughs, but the Basenji is strangely silent.
"Nice work Shizuko," Akane says with a smile. "You got me again. You've gotten really good." Shizuko smiles, then sees the other dog. Shizuko suddenly takes a reserved posture, her eyes more subdued. She nods in greeting to the newcommer, but is still silent.
Another infected? That was all who ended up here, after all. The infected and their companions. Shizuko can feel the sadness caused by the past radiating off this new male. Shizuko slowly approaches the male, a curious twinkle in her hazel eyes.

The oddly colored male moved with a forlorn grace - the walk of a man who'd seen to many years and had far to many left to come before he'd be free from what the years brought. He growled low in his throat, ears flicking back, as each slow paw hit the ground. He looked around as he walked, eyes cold and dark, as he snorted softly. Where to go. What to do. He was alpha, that meant he had to be able to do something worthwhile. Or what was the point of taking up this job, right? He sighed, shaking his head once more, before stretching. He didn't know what to do. Didn't know if he had anything around worth doing. But, if he was alpha, and if he wanted to keep his pack safe and such, might as well start with scouting the edge of his territory. He moved easily among the shadows, as he worked his way around the land. His nose tilted in the air, when he suddenly caught some scents. Altering his movements he worked his way towards them, seeing James, Akane, and Shizuko. He gave a soft bark, alerting them off his approach. "Hello, Akane, Shizuko. James." The large leader said, as his gaze passed between his two pack members and the red panda. Curious as to what was going on.

Shizuko blinks and steps back when she hears Corr's voice. She dips her head respectfully, Akane doing the same between her front paws. The basenji opens her mouth slightly, as if to say something. All that comes out is a strange gutteral noise. Akane turns toward Shizuko in surprise.
"That's a new one," Akane says quietly. She smiles slightly before turning back to Corr. "We were playing and found James here by himself." Despite the red panda's apparent age, she still acted like a pup sometimes. "We were just wondering why he was out here by himself."
Shizuko makes the noise again, as if agreeing. She knew the beta had not yet been chosen, and she wanted to try to speak, at least to the alpha, and increase her chances of being chosen. She didn't know if her chances were high in the first place, but she wanted to try her best. After all, she hadn't been born entirely mute. Just mostly. She could still make some noises, but often preffered not to.

James looked at the pair curiously, what in the world was that little thing? It jumped in front of him and he jumped back. He didn't growl, he just watched curiously. It obviously wasn't a canine, maybe some kind of cat breed? He nodded to the silent dog and her exotic cat. He restrained himself from laughing. A dog having a pet cat? That was strange, but who was he to call something strange, his face went back to its sober expression.
He heard another rustling in the brush, his head turned towards the forest. His head instinctively tilted up to catch the scent, just as e realized who it was, his alpha appeared out of forest. This was his chance to inquire about the beta position. He nodded to his alpha respectfully, "Good Morning, Corr," He said in his deep voice, his head bowed slightly in a respectful way. "I came here to inquire about the Beta position, has it already been filled?" He asked.
Then suddenly, it hit him. He knew why he had been sent back to Earth as an Immortal, he had never done anything with his life. He needed something to live for, something that would make his life worth living. Responsibility would give him something to live for. Being Beta would give him responsibility. He was shocked that he hadn't seen this before, he hid his look of surprise and looked at Corr
